This silver denarius is in superb condition and was  struck in Rome during the brief reign of Publius Septimius Geta (209-212 AD) as co-emperor with his brother Caracalla under their father Septimius Severus, exemplifies Roman imperial propaganda emphasizing youthful leadership and military prowess. Geta, the younger son of Severus, was elevated to Augustus in 209 AD but was assassinated by Caracalla in 212 AD, leading to the erasure of much of his legacy.
Obverse: P SEPT GETA CAES PONT depicting a bareheaded, draped bust of Geta facing right, symbolizing his roles as pontifex (high priest) and Caesar/Augustus.
Reverse: PRINC IVVENTVTIS (Prince of Youth), showing Geta in military attire standing left, holding a baton in his right hand and a spear in his left, with a trophy (a captured enemy standard or arms pile) positioned behind him to the right. The trophy motif celebrates Roman victories and Geta's readiness for command.
