Earls Court "Gigantic Wheel" Token - 1905 (Rare year) - EF
The Earls Court 'Gigantic Wheel' Medal is a commemorative medal produced by the renowned London firm Spink & Sons, celebrating the Great Wheel (also known as the Gigantic Wheel) at Earls Court Exhibition Centre. This was part of a series of similar medals issued annually from around 1897 to 1905, marking the wheel's operation during various exhibitions. The 1905 version is notably scarce, as the wheel ceased operations shortly after that year.
Medals in this series were struck in bronze and served as souvenirs rather than functional tokens.
Obverse: Depicts a side view of the Gigantic Wheel. Inscription: "GIGANTIC WHEEL" to the left, "EARLS COURT" to the right.
Reverse: A detailed 12-line inscription providing technical specs.
