This silver denarius was struck at Rome under Elagabalus, usually dated AD 218–222, and the reverse shows Pietas - God of roman virtue standing by a lighted altar with incense-box offerings, a standard image of dutiful piety and religious observance.

The obverse legend is IVLIA MAESA AVG, naming Julia Maesa, who was the grandmother of Elagabalus and Severus Alexander.

There is a small patch of wear on the obverse left of the portrait
